Well, to choose a dental clinic is really a difficult task, especially when it’s first time you require to visit the one. When patient visits multiple dental clinics for his/her same dental problem or dental pain, he/she gets more confused because of variation in the treatment cost. At times, even treatment suggested is also different. This is where you are in dilemma to whom to believe and to whom not.
There is nothing wrong in getting second opinion or to visit two-three dental clinic to choose the best one. However, it is useless to compare the charges of different clinics. You cannot compare a second-hand tata nano car, Hyundai i20 hatchback and Mercedes Benz E class even though they all have steering, four wheels, brake, horn, two headlights and two tail lights. Same applies to dental treatment costings.
As far as dental treatment charges are concerned, they are decided on the basis of technology used by the clinic, quality of material and laboratory work and skills of the dental surgeon. Moreover, some clinics updates themselves with the current hi-tech advancements while others may still use old-school and nearly outdated techniques.
For Example, X and Y are dental clinics. You visit both the clinic and you are advised to have tooth cover/crown. Now clinic X charge for PFM (ceramic) Crown is Rs 3500/- and on the other hand Clinic Y is charging you Rs 5500/-. Now there is a difference of Rs 2000/- and you may start thinking that clinic Y is costlier and you are getting the same thing at reasonable rate at clinic X. Now this rate difference is because of factors like visual technology, method of crown preparation, Impression material, method of manufacturing the PFM, cementation material etc.

While choosing a dental clinic one should decide carefully. Note that Rs. 2000/- saved 7 years back is costing you Rs 40000/- or more today and that is also after permanent damage to your natural tooth structure and over all health.
There is a proverb in Hindi language -
'सस्ता रोए बार-बार महंगा रोए एक बार'
‘Sasta roe baar-baar mahanga roe ek baar’.
It means that one should choose a quality product though it may be costly, initially, for it will last long whereas a cheap item will be light on the pocket while it may require to be repaired or replaced frequently and at the end prove to be more expensive than the quality product.
I think above mentioned proverb explains it all.
